Poster studies are a big part of my process so I wanted to share some recent one and also the first still life one that I did (that I love). I always create a small poster of a painting that I'm attempting to do so that I can work out composition, color composition, values and also to see if this is going to make it past this stage and to a full painting. Most of the time these will make it to a final painting but sometimes its playing with the elements and tweaking them before working the final painting. I've always received good feedback on these as they tend to be a bit looser and the color is pushed sometimes a bit more than what I optically see or will put in the final painting. This past November I participated in the Allied Artists of America's 100th Annual Exhibition that was held at the National Arts Club. This was my first time showing in NYC but the greatest part was I won the  " Aileen and Manuel de Torres Award for Still Life". A big thank you to all that came out to support me!  Rana Esculenta

I will be in the December 2013 Issue of The Artists Magazine as I placed in the 30th Annual Artists Magazine Annual Art Competition this year with an Honorable Mention in the Still Life/Floral category. There is a small article written about me.  This marks the second year I've got in to the competition so I'm honored to be a part of the Magazine. I'm also excited to have my image on the index page again! In addition, I was a finalist for the Still Life/Floral category with a second painting.
